Flag Hoisting Ceremony on Pakistan 81st National day

To commemorate the 81st National Day of Pakistan, a flag-hoisting ceremony was held on March 23, 2021, at the Sohail Trust Hospital. Prof Dr. Hussain Mehdi along with other senior doctors & staff raised the Pakistani flag. The ceremony was followed by the national anthem, patriotic songs, and speeches. Dr. Hussain Mehdi underlined the importance of Pakistan and freedom given to minorities as compared to other countries. In his concluding remarks, Dr. Mehdi prayed to the Almighty to make Pakistan safe, stronger, and a highly developed country in the future.

Inauguration of free NICU & PICU

Sohail Trust Hospital inaugurates NICU and PICU unit. Sohail Trust Hospital has inaugurated a state of the art Neonatal and Paediatric Intensive care unit facility on Wednesday, February 17th, 2021. The chief guest of the event: Mr. Danish Aman, Director Hafiz Tannery, along with Professor Bushra Rafique, Head of the Paediatric Department, Sohail Trust Hospital, jointly proceeded the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The fully functional Neonatal ICU unit consists of nine incubators and the Paediatric ICU is a 5 bedded facility for intensive care Paediatric patients. The hospital will continue its mission to provide free-of-cost healthcare services to underprivileged patients.

Free Cataract Surgeries

Sohail Trust Hospital is now providing free of cost eye screening/examination and providing free cataract surgeries. At first phase, we performed 16 surgeries on February 11th, 2021 The hospital is determined to provide free healthcare facilities besides free eye surgeries for the underprivileged patients.

Workshop on COVID-19 Management

The department of Paediatric, Sohail Trust Hospital, organized a workshop on COVID management in children in collaboration with UNICEF / PPA, on 25th & 26th January 2021, under the supervision of Professor Bushra Rafique (HOD paeds dept. Sohail Trust Hospital). Speakers were Dr. Waseem Jamalvi, Professor Salma sheikh, Dr. Arshad Hamid khan, Professor Jalal Akbar, Dr. Meher Afroze. It was a hybrid program 4 sessions were online (zoom) and one live followed by question and answer session. The event was hosted by Dr. Maryam Haider and Dr. Nadeem Noor. Certificates were provided by UNICEF.

Inauguration of free Dialysis Services

Another Milestone! Sohail Trust Hospital has successfully inaugurated the FREE Dialysis services on January 20, 2021. On this occasion, Syed Adnan Sohail, Trustee, S.M. Sohail Trust, presided over a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the beginning of the new facility. Sohail Trust Hospital will continue its efforts to provide the best healthcare services to the underprivileged population.

Free ENT Camp

Sohail Trust Hospital department of ENT, HEAD & NECK conducted 2-day ENT Camp at STH to facilitate Free check-up for hearing impaired patients. More than 100 visitors visited the camp and were provided with a Free Medical facility.

Introduction of Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine

Sohail Trust Hospital, Department of Pediatrics, in collaboration with EPI, Govt. of Sindh, organized a program on "Introduction of Typhoid conjugate vaccine". Professor S.M. Inkisar Ali coordinator while Asst. Prof. Dr. Uzma Arshad, Department of Pediatrics was the moderator of the program. A large number of audience including doctors, senior nursing & paramedic staff attended the program.

Workshop on Neonatal Resuscitation

Sohail Trust Hospital organized workshop on Neonatal Resuscitation. More than 30 participants including doctors & staff participated in the event. Head of Pediatric Department, Professor S.M. Inkisar Ali while emphasizing the importance of event said that timely and effective Neonatal Resuscitation cannot be over emphasized. Globally around 4 million Neonatal deaths occur every year, out of these more than a million new born die on their first day of life. Furthermore, 93% of these deaths occur in low and middle-income countries including Pakistan. About 25% of all Neonatal death are caused by birth asphyxia, he added. He also emphasized that birth asphyxia can be effectively treated to a very large extent with timely resuscitation of new born and failure to do so will result in morality and long-term neuro developmental disability. Professor Inkisar praised services of Senior Participant Dr. Habiba Hassan. Dr. Habiba Hassan thanked J.M.C.H and presented review on the subject. At the end of the event Q&A session was conducted and certificates were distributed among the participants and facilitators.

Polio Awareness Program

Year 2019 witnessed a very large number of Polio cases in Pakistan. Polio Eradication is everybody’s duty. All of us have to play our role, was said by Dr. S.M Inkisar Ali. Another achievement for S.M. Sohail Trust to have received PCP certification. The Pakistan Center for Philanthropy (PCP) Certification Program seeks to bring transparency, accountability and good supremacy in the nonprofit sector in Pakistan. It involves the evaluation of a nonprofit organization on standardized limitations of internal governance, financial management and program delivery.
